The Council for Geoscience (CGS) confirms that a seismic event occurred on the 28 April 2026, at approximately 20h32 SAST. Recordings from the South African National Seismograph Network (SANSN) indicate that this event registered a local magnitude (ML) of 3.1. The epicentre was located in the mining town of Glenharvie in Westonaria.
