Council for Geoscience’s Analytical Services Achieves Internationally Recognised ISO/IEC 17025 Accreditation
Pretoria, Friday, 14 August 2026 – The Council for Geoscience (CGS) has achieved a significant milestone in strengthening the quality, credibility and global competitiveness of its scientific services, with its Analytical Services laboratory attaining ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation effective 27 July 2026. The accreditation was awarded under Facility Accreditation Number T1156 and represents formal international recognition of the laboratory’s technical competence and its ability to consistently produce accurate, reliable and internationally accepted test results.
ISO/IEC 17025 is an internationally recognised benchmark for testing and calibration laboratories. Accreditation against the standard provides assurance that a laboratory operates with demonstrated technical competence, impartiality, consistency and a robust quality management system. It also provides a framework for continual improvement and reinforces a laboratory’s commitment to precision, efficiency and reliability. For the CGS, the achievement represents the fulfilment of a key strategic objective and an important step in aligning the organisation’s quality management systems with its core business plans and statutory mandate.
