STATEMENT ON SEISMIC EVENT THAT OCCURRED NEAR THE SOUTH AFRICALESOTHO WESTERN BORDER.
The Council for Geoscience (CGS) confirms that a seismic event occurred yesterday, 15 April 2026, at approximately 14h07 SAST. Recordings from the South African National Seismograph Network (SANSN) indicate that this event registered a local magnitude (ML) of
3.1. The epicentre was located approximately 7 km northeast of Manyatseng village, near Ladybrand, in the Free State Province.
