NOTICE OF TENDERS (RFP) AND REQUESTS FOR QUOTATION (RFQS) SCAMS

CGS-Logo-(Footer)

The Council for Geoscience (CGS) has been inundated with complaints and concerns relating to an existing TENDER/RFQ FRAUD SCAM where fraudsters are purporting to be CGS SCM employees and are soliciting bribes or facilitation fees in exchange for securing tender/RFQ opportunities.

The fraudsters would ordinarily call unsuspecting prospective bidders using mobile numbers and mention the TENDER/RFQ that the bidders have submitted bids for and go further to guarantee them the “job” in exchange for a “facilitation fee”. Please note that, as part of the CGS SCM procedures, once a bid closes, a list of all bidders and their bid amounts are published on the CGS website.

In addition, please be advised that under no circumstances will the CGS ever require an upfront payment to secure an award of a tender or RFQ. Claims by individuals for upfront payment is a blatant attempt at defrauding unsuspecting suppliers/bidders, therefore such a scam must immediately be reported to the CGS Anonymous Tip-Off Line (contact details are listed below).
