STATEMENT ON SEISMIC EVENT THAT OCCURRED NEAR SPRINGBOK, NORTHERN CAPE
The Council for Geoscience (CGS) confirms a seismic event that occurred yesterday 02 September 2025 at approximately 17h27 SAST. Recordings from the South African National Seismograph Network (SANSN) indicate that this event registered a local magnitude (ML) of 3.6. The epicentre of this event was located approximately 20 km southeast of the town of Springbok in the Northern Cape Province.
The public is encouraged to record their experiences using the available online questionnaire.
