STATEMENT ON SEISMIC EVENT THAT OCCURRED IN THE KLERKSDORP-ORKNEY-STILFONTEIN-HARTEBEESTFONTEIN (KOSH) REGION
The Council for Geoscience (CGS) confirms a seismic event occurred early hours of today, 10 September 2025 at approximately 04h21 SAST. Recordings from the South African National Seismograph Network (SANSN) indicate that this event registered a local magnitude (ML) of 3.2. The epicentre was located approximately 14 km northeast of the town of Orkney, within the KOSH region in the North West Province.
The public is encouraged to record their experiences using the available online questionnaire.
