Council for Geoscience intersects water in Nzimakwe

Drilling Unit

As part of the implementation of its integrated and multidisciplinary geoscience mapping programme, the Council for Geoscience (CGS) has successfully sited productive boreholes in Nzimakwe, South Coast of KwaZulu-Natal. The CGS has drilled three boreholes as part of Intaba YeNsizwa geological and geophysical mapping to support its mantra of how geoscience is the fulcrum of human development.

Combined, the boreholes may supply approximately 17 000 liters per day to community of Nzimakwe. Upon concluding the pump test and water quality analysis, the CGS will handover the boreholes to the Nzimakwe Traditional Council in collaboration with the relevant water authority of the Municipality and the Department of Water and Sanitation.
