Transvaal MuseumThe Geoscience Museum is located inside the Transvaal Museum in the city centre of Pretoria, on the corner of Paul Kruger and Visagie Streets.

The Geoscience Museum is dedicated to promoting the geosciences and includes a systematic minerals display and displays of fossils, the rock cycle, economic minerals, gemstones, meteorites, the Solar System and the formation of the different rock types. Multimedia displays depict different aspects of the geosciences, including the Solar System, general geology, and the geology of and geologically interesting sites in and around Pretoria. A collection of videos on the geosciences is available on request and can be viewed in the Museum.

The minerals and rock collection of the Museum is one of the most comprehensive on the African continent and more than 20 000 specimens are on record, of which more than 9 000 are on display. The Museum is administered by the Council for Geoscience, functioning as the Geological Survey of South Africa.
