Engineering Geology and Physical Geohazards

Geohazards are increasingly important in the field of disaster management globally and in South Africa. To this end Government has introduced an enabling environment through the Disaster Management Act. The CGS is in a strong position to provide services and consulting in this area through its huge information base and considerable expertise in this field.

This is especially relevant in the light of the South African urbanisation trend and the subsequent need for geohazard solutions in the form of decision support and risk management systems.
