The Western Cape Regional Office of the Council for Geoscience is responsible for all statutory geological endeavours in the Western Cape. This involves the basic geological mapping and research of the area and an assessment of its mineral resources. It encompasses the collection of all geological information in the area, including specific engineering and environmental geological data and services. This unit also provides contractual geological services to both the government and the private sector, in South Africa and abroad.
