Engineering Geosciences

Engineering geological and geotechnical expertise within the Council for Geoscience are concentrated within the Engineering Geosciences Unit, with its primary activities encompassing site investigations, dolomite studies, structure plans for urban planning, referencing and maintenance of the Engineering Geological Data Base (ENGEODE), regional engineering geological mapping, and applied research.

Expansive soil investigationThe Engineering Geoscience Unit is one of three units within the Applied Geoscience Division at the Council for Geoscience. It is staffed by qualified engineering geologists who apply geoscientific and engineering knowledge in understanding factors that affect or influence the location, design, construction, operation and maintenance of civil engineering works. Projects are undertaken on a commercial and statutory basis.
